Introduction:

The Fertilisation Association of India (FAI) is a leading organisation dedicated to advancing the field of fertilisers and promoting best practices in soil management across India. The project involved a comprehensive redesign of FAI’s website to better serve its stakeholders, including farmers, industry professionals, and researchers.

Problem Statement


The FAI website had extensive information but suffered from poor organisation and structure, making it difficult for users, especially those with limited tech skills, to find and understand the content. The outdated design also lacked clarity and visual appeal, leading to a suboptimal user experience.

Goal


Redesign the FAI website to improve information organisation, enhance usability for users with limited tech skills, and create a visually engaging and accessible experience.

Roles & Responsibilities


As a UI/UX Designer:
Conducted user research and created user personas to understand the needs of diverse user groups.
Redesigned the website’s information architecture and created wireframes and prototypes.
Developed a modern visual design aligned with FAI’s branding.
Conducted usability testing and iterated designs based on feedback.
Collaborated with stakeholders and developers to refine design solutions.

As a UI Developer:
Translated design mockups into responsive, functional code using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Implemented interactive features and ensured cross-browser compatibility.
Collaborated with back-end developers and resolved technical issues.
Performed testing and quality assurance to ensure a seamless user experience.
Assisted with ongoing maintenance and updates.

To understand the users’ needs, I conducted extensive user research, including interviews and surveys with farmers, agricultural students, agribusiness owners, and extension workers.
